Police subculture can be compared to a group such as AA, but minus the alcoholism (I would hope). This may be a huge leap, but within AA, there is a bondage and a confidence that these people around you can be trusted and because you have something huge and intense in common and because AA protects it's own and honors others within that group. The police subculture can help the performance of police officers because they have to trust each other with their lives and no one else will understand their job besides other officers
